honda x8r scooter problem plz help?

hi i have a honda x8r just past its mot fine i have just got a job a few mile away from me and i seem to be having a problem with it friday gone i couldnt get it started from work i filed it up with some oil and eventualy managed to start it i got about 3 mile down the road puled up at a set of lights and smelt burning rubber i went to pull off and the exuast made a lot of smoke and the bike did not move and broke down this keeps hapening but it seems to keep going if i rev it as far as it goes and after a bit smoke comes out it eventualy keeps rideing i almost broke down in a toll tunnel today and i nerly shat my pants i would love someone to shed some light on this and i would realy appreciate any responce thanks glenn
