HONDA TRX250R ( 1991ish) Can the drive chain be adjusted ?

helping a friend, I do motorcycles not quads. the chain is real lose. What is the drive chain maintenance ? When it is lose take out a link or replace it ? And I would like confirmation there is no choke , just a prime/rich running switch.
 
there is 4 bolt on the back of the swing arm,loosen them up and use a Honda carrier tool and adjust it to spec same a dirt bike. the choke should be a lift type of choke it a black plastic thing(it being the only one on the carb) and the Honda TRX250R was only make from 1986-1989. if this is not an aftermarket frame( being a lone star ect. frame would be build up and have a bigger and diff style of carb then the stock Honda specs)

tell your friend to keep that thing in good condition those are worth some money.
