Honda Superlocks/Deadlocks door won't open?

Yesterday we saw a 2006 Honda Jazz we liked at the local Honday dealership, and agreed to go back at the end of next week to buy it.

The remote acess key didn't work, so the saleswoman told us not not worry; it's just that the battery has probably gone on it and she would replace it and make sure it worked before we took the car away.

However, I've been worried all night about this. Surely with central locking, ALL the doors would open if you manually turned the key?

I read on the internet that the car has something called Honda Superlocks/Deadlocks. Is this something to do with the door? Could this be the reason it wouldn't open? My husband did try from the inside but he couldn't seem to open the door. The saleswoman just put it down to the remote access battery being run out.

I don't want to go back and pay the balance if we have a defective vehicle. Any thoughts?

We have deadlocks on our Toyota too, and when the deadlocks are applied the key won't open the doors without use of the remote. Nor will the inside handles. Presuming it's the same system, it sounds like that's the norm. It's a security thing, so someone can't smash the window and reach in to open the doors.

Make sure that the BOTH the remote keys work fully when you go to see it again. There should be two with the car, insist they provide them or you could be in shtuck if you lose the one and only item you have. People who have only one key with a transponder-equipped car find out that it is an awkward and VERY expensive process when they need another.
