I have a 2002 Honda Accord. It has 110k miles on it. Recently I started having transmission problems and had it replaced. When I picked the car up from the honda dealership, I turned the key and the car turned over, but would not start. I have take the car back to a mechanic several times with this starting issue. I have had a number of things replaced and am still having the same issue. The last time I had a hard time starting the car it would turn over like it was trying to start but would not catch and start up. It took 30 minutes to get the car started. I don't know if it was coincidence, but I put the car in neutral and it started on the second try. Now the mechanic seems to think that it is my key causing all of the problems. Does that make sense that normal wear and tear on a key from a key ring would cause enough of a difference as to make the car think it is some sort of a forgery? I guess he is running out of options as this problem has been going on for months.
Additional details:
1. the computer isn't reporting a problem, scans come back negative.
2 I had the 105k mile tune up.
3 turns over doesnt start...got spark???? got gas???...fuel filter ?? did you test fuel pump pressure,,,,did mechanic pull an injector and see if its gunked up?? Yes to all and he cleaned the injector. He also replaced the fuel injector sensor (i think that was what it was).
This guy has been a family mechanic that we have gone to for years. He hasn't even been charging labor lately it has been back in his shop so much.
