Honda del Sol always smells like gas, accelerates VERY slowly & sometimes I...

...have to push the gas to start it? I have a manual transmission 1993 Honda del Sol.

When I try to start it, it sounds like the engine is turning over but like there isn't enough gas for it to come on... if I push the gas pedal once or twice it will come on, and then works fine while I'm driving it, other than the RIDICULOUSLY slow acceleration.

If I am stopped at a red light or stop sign and start to accelerate, people always pass me because it takes so long for it to get moving.

I have taken it to a repair place before to get something else and they mentioned something about the throttle body, I don't know if it needs to be replaced or what.

What could be wrong with it, and how much do you think it would cost me to have it repaired?
 
that's what is wrong with my car. it could be the gas pump or a compression leak some where on the car. the shop fixed mine 3 times and it still broke again. what i think you should do is bring it in and see whats wrong at the shop. cause its one problem thats causing everything or even if you fix it, that problem will break everything again.
