I am looking to be a new (used) car this fall and these two are my top choices. I honestly know jack about cars and so I am wondering if you guys could give me any input on why one might be a better buy than the other.

you're better off with a rav-4
honda tranny's tend to go bad, but their engines are sound.
nissan tranny's last, but their engines have nothing to be desired for.

Honda CR-V... the Nissan's more expensive and the ride is rougher. If you were looking for a new car, though, I would recommend the 2010 Chevy Equinox-5 mpg better than the CR-V even though it's larger. However the old Equinoxes were inferior to most of the competition so you are best off with the CR-V if you're buying used.

I think personally the nissan is the best looking of the 2 but the honda has always carried a better resale value. the crv will take top honors for milage of the 2 and creature comfort goes to Nissan. I would look at all small crossovers in this field, test drive them, compaire the prices and base it on what feels right and fits my needs. Ford, Gm, chrysler Toyota hyunda all of them. you will be suprised some offer prices that give you more car for less money and back them well! All the american car makers are willing to give you the shirt off their backs to get the sales. gm has 7 year no interest on an add. thats huge savings, ford likely will match this. none will do this with the performance line though. the edge mat be a good fit for you, chevys got a similar car and the nitro by chrysler is prety slick as wll.

Well to be quite honest, Honda and Nissan are both overpriced, but the Murano is a much nicer car than the CR-V.

Nissan is more reliable contrary to popular belief
Murano has more standard features and options for the money.
Murano has MUUUCH nicer styling than the CR-V
Murano has a more powerful engine than the CR-V
Murano has more space than the CR-V

You should really get a Hyundai Santa Fe, its nicer looking, faster, has the same features, longer warranty, better safety scores, "Most improved car brand in the past 10 years" by consumer guide

There you go :)

The Honda is more reliable, has a better resale value, more fuel efficient, cheaper to buy and insure.

The Nissan Murano is more luxurious, requires premium gas, only comes with a V6 engine. So it is faster and handles better and slightly larger, but a whole lot more expensive to own.

So the Honda is better.
