I may be getting a Honda CL160 (1966/67) from a neighbor who is clearing out and doesn't want it. Before I take it, I was wondering how much (roughly) I'm looking at for a restoration. Though I don't know much about motorcycles in particular, I'd say it needs a full restoration. Also, is there anything I should look for to decide if it is not worth trying to fix up? When I kick the starter, it does sound like it has some compression. The wiring is a jumble as are brake lines, etc.

You have a long term project with that. The older engines are the simpler they are. It has compression, which is always a good place to start.

The cost is impossible to imagine sitting here staring at the screen. Parts will be found on e-bay and at swap meets. You may need to make friends with a machinist and a sheet metal fabricator.

Wiring is easy enough to upgrade yourself.

If all else fails, donate it to Barber motorsports park.
