I put in higher powered bulbs from Motorcycle bulbs in the original bulb spots.
They draw a lot more amperage, get hotter, and the power wires get hotter. It is o.k. if you do not have both the high and low beams on to much. If you do you will melt the factory plugs and wires.
I got replacement plugs and had heavier duty wires. I found the low beam positive wire to run power to a relay rated enough to handle the maximum amperage draw. The relay power uses very little power. So I tapped into it to get power. Following the electrical schematic on the relay package. Then I ran a inline fuse from the battery to the correct terminals of the relay. The on the ooposite side I ran a power wire for the headlight. This was for the low beams. I put in another relay for the high beams. 1 Relay was good enough for both bulbs.
