Honda Civic engine squeak.?

I have a 1996 Honda Civic 1.6 EX which squeaks ONLY when I start it up.

The sound is like little mice squeaking in my engine..sounds ridiculous right?

I'm pretty sure its not the belts and I recall when I owned a Subaru it had the same problem. Someone (old mechanic) mentioned to me that it was the Cams which naturally begin to make noise as time goes by.

I checked the oil and it was perfectly filled and is not loosing any oil or causing any type of black oil build up.

What could it be? The engine noise goes away once the engine is warmed up. Is it possible to fix this and get the engine sounds to a minimum.

Please direct me, thank you:)

'squeaking' and/or 'squealing' is caused by loose belts.

If it were valves, you would head a distinct tap/ticking noise when it started up and would go away once warm.

You can get the belts tightened at any repair shop for either free or a relatively low price.

can you give more info, but I am sure you can't because you have exhausted all obvious possible reasons, the only thing that I would think about now is your valve, try an additive called valve quietner or engine quietner, good luck mate.

p.s. I would check the belt again and the belts pulleys.
