Hey everyone, here's a question for owners of Honda CB550's please, just to eliminate contrary or inapplicable answers.
I've got a 1975 CB550K1, and one end of the fuel petcock valve has a tab that sticks out. At the end of the tab, there is an arrow pointing inward toward the center, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to turn the valve so that the tabbed end points toward the word "On" or if the opposite end (to which the arrow on the tab points) points toward the "On" and the tabbed end is pointed away. I just want to make sure I'm not setting it to "Reserve" when I want it set to "On"

Anyone with this same bike please point me in the right direction!
Thanks

The fuel valve is located on the left side of the bike. Turning it straight down will place it in the normal run position, turning it towards the front of the bike will put the selector in the reserve position, and turning it towards the rear will turn the fuel off, this position should be used when ever the bike is parked.
I just happen to have a copy of the owners manual for that bike. If you would like to have a copy send me your e-mail address and I will send it to you as an attachment.

Ok according to your picture it is pointing to reserve. Turn it so the arrow is pointing to "ON"
When you are riding and she starts to sputter you turn it to reserve. It will give you to a gas station.
In most bikes reserve will hold about 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallons in reserve to get you to the station.
