I own a Honda CB450DX the front brakes are naff and was thinking, bigger brakes better stopping power, Ive looked online for oversize brakes but no luck...can you help me. Its a 1989 model.

ooh this one is easy..
1 replace the existing brake hoses with goodridge steel braided.
You'll notice a 25% to 40% increase in brake performance over the standard rubber nylon braided hoses.

OR:-
Right you need to find/locate a CB350S-G or a CB450S-G.
You can pick one up on Ebay for about £100.00 or thereabouts without an MOT. or search the parts finders
The brakes are NISSIN 2 piston callipers. a dramatic improvement over the single piston CB400N and the CB450 DX brakes.
You really need the whole brake setup hoses and you need the master cylinder too.
Next you need to replace the existing discs. The discs present are solid iron discs
For about £100 you can buy "wavy" discs for this bike.
It is no good using the CB350/450S-G discs as they are often worn very thin due to the efficiency of the brakes, also the disks PCD spacing is not commensurate with that of the comstar wheels of the CB450DX.
TBH.
If you could find a decent CB***S-G frame / bike I would personally transfer the DX engine and swing arm to it along with the comstar wheels with rear disk. as the frame is far superior to that of the DX and less flexible.

Try changing the brakes.
Brake dust and road debris gets embedded and cause them to get "glazed", reducing their stopping power.
If the brakes have enough material, score them up with a wire brush, then clean them with brake cleaner (available at auto parts stores).

I can help you here...I hope. The problem with trying to bigger is that you would have to find something that would mount correctly to the existing mounts. You may be able to buy Brembo parts/pads for your bike. Also try adding braided brake lines. Braided lines do not " swell" under pressure and apply more pressure to the caliper. Brake fluid should be changed every two years according to your owners manual.
The brakes on this bike were not designed for heavy race application, but can be modified to work better.
Start with braided lines and a fluid swap, then work into race application products like brembo parts. Good luck
