hi i bought a cb 400 engine think its 89/90, to replace an old engine in my buggy i got everything but the wiring how can i wire this engine up just to run with no lights, turning signals, as basic as possible?
Straight from the battery wire the + terminal to the + terminal of the coil. Insert a switch. If electric start another jumper from + battery to + on the starter solonoid.
Well you are at least going to need the ignition module(s), ignition coil, and battery to get it running. Also, unless you plan on running total loss electric system you will need to wire in the regulator/rectifier unit so that the battery will charge.
See if the guy you got the engine from still has the frame, and if he does ask for the wiring harness and electrical componets.
