Hi, I've a 2001 HONDA CIVIC with honda OEM AM/FM/CD stereo player fillted in it. Everything was fine for years and now suddenly radio (FM and AM) stopped working. It just cannot catch any stations. I tried tunning to the known frequencies and no luck there either. Well the CD player works perfectly fine.
I do not think its a problem with fuse as in typical cases. I do see a radio antennae on the back glass. I'm not sure what could be the problem. My guess is its just a wire disconnect OR bad antennae that needs to be replaced.

Now since this is a OEM Honda player I do not see a easy (pop out) way to check the back of this stereo for cable connections. Looks like need to remove lot of items in dashboard to reach the back of the stereo.
I took it to honda dealer and he said they'll charge $105 just to CHECK what the problem is and repair would be extra. Then I took it to local car stereo shop and he estimated $100 for new antennae and repair supposing IT IS a bad antennae.

Now I'm not sure is it really worth hundreds of dollers for a mere bad cable connection? Is there a better place I can take the car. Best buy advertises $45 to fit a new car stereo on their website.
Any suggesstions/pointers folks?
