i own a 1994 hond a accord ex VTEC with a surging idle problem. (always surges from 900rpm to 2100rpm) this problem used to be intermitent and now the car surges idle all the time.
when the rpms reach above 2100 the car runs fine. no hesitation, no lack of power, nothing. the check engine light is not on.
i checked for any vaccum leaks, none. i took off and cleaned the Idle air control valve, and listened to it work. (electric motor) seems fine. replaced the throttle position sensor. and dont know what to check next.. the surging idle is insanely annoying at stoplights. when i unplug the mass airflow sensor, it trips the check engine light and the car stops the surging idle temporarly (but, then the car has no power and idles steady at 2000 rpm..
i dont know what else to check. its very frustrating. any ideas? thank you in advance!
