I drive a 2002 Honda Accord, and the "check engine" light keeps coming on and going off; specifically, it comes on for a few days, then goes off for a week or so before coming on again.
I took the car to Auto Zone to have them read the code, and they said there was a combustion deficiency, meaning that I would have replace either the oxygen sensor or the catalytic converter.
I decided to just take the car in for inspections, figuring that the mechanics would tell me exactly what needed to be done, but the engine light just happened to be off, and the car unexpectedly passed inspections!
Since then, the light has come on once, and it went off again after a few days. So the question is: Is this something I should worry about? Can it potentially damage the automobile? Or should I just not worry about it and hope that the engine light is off again next year when the car has to be inspected again?
