...Should I buy it? my mom says you should never buy a car by a second owner because you dont know any information from the owner before the newer owner. Its a pretty car with only 73,000 miles and the guy says its in great condition and i can come and see it. the year is 1997 and my mom says thats its ridiculous i want to buy a car thats more then 12 years old.

But its a honda with only 70k and its almost impossible to get a honda or toyota with 70k for less then $4500

any suggesstions?

Check the CarFax. Look for a history of car care.
I have a 2003 Honda Civic. I love it. I bought it brand new though and I have kept every single receipt from up keep so that if I ever do decide to sell it, the facts are there.
I have found Honda to be a great value. If it's been taken care of, it might be a great car for you. But you need to research as much as you can on the Vin, get as much info on it as you can before you buy it.
And it always helps to have a friend who is a mechanic and can find any little problems it might have.

Hondas are good cars, however, for the price, I think you should look into getting a newer car. If you do choose to go with the '97, have the owner meet with you at a garage so that a full diagnostics can be run on the car before you buy it.

Hondas go forever with very little maintenance. I had one that ran for over 300,000 miles before finally biting the dust and would cost more to repair than the car's worth.
Definitely take the car to a mechanic you trust for a thorough check up before purchase, and if it checks out, get it, that's a great price for a good reliable car.
