honda accord 1997 $1500 A good deal?

I just bought a honda accord 1997 for $1500 with 228.000 miles on it...I was just wondering if the shifting on it seems a little hard..is this normal?? because it doesn't shift like a chevy or a ford...? And whats usually the first thing that leaks on the engine? The car is in pretty good shape no major rust spots or dints...?? Thanks
 
holy s**t 228000 miles that is more than the starship enterprise, most cars pop at about 150 even tho japanese cars are more reliable that is still stupid, you ave bin well ripped off,
 
that is very very high mileage , but just try to take care of it , get the oil changed when its suppose to be and just take care of it. and no that is not normal , thats most likely the tranny so i would invest in a new trasmission
