honda 110 trike only sparks with car spark plug?

i recently put together a 110 honda trike 1983 we tested the spark with a car spark plug and it looked fine. so i went and bought the proper plug for that bike tried it and no spark. is there a diference between car and bike plugs if not can i get a car plug that will fit and use that any help would be great thanks stevie
