Homeward Bound - Thoughts?

I used to watch this film all the time when I was growing up in the 90's. I remember laughing at Chance the dog, getting worried for Sassy when she fell down the waterfall and getting myself into a state when Shadow "gave up". I think the last time I watched it before last night was 2001 or something.

Anyways I watched it for the first time in years last night and I still love it. When I was younger, I didn't really understand the plot of the story and why the family were leaving, but last night I could take it all in. I can remember thinking to myself "oh my god, this is the bit where...." and all the memories came flooding back to me. I laughed and I laughed, and I also got teary-eyed at the ending. The bit where Shadow comes limping over the hill gets me all the time.

What does everyone else think of the film?

(and PS, it just occured to me that the animals from the film are probably dead, seeing as the film was made in 1992. And i've tried to find out some information on some of the kiRAB of the film but there's nothing online about any of them. :()

 homeward bound is one of my many favourite films!!

makes me cry every time i watch it, its such a great film to watch over and over again!!!

I also got teary-eyed at the ending. The bit where Shadow comes limping over the hill gets me all the time.

Thats gets me every time..especially when the boy turns round and walks away...i just shout at the tv turn back round he's coming back.

I loved this film (an the original version) when I was younger. Haven't watched it for years, you've now given me the idea!

I was always sooo sad at the bit with Shadow down the hole even though I knew the ending. Love when they come over the hill.

It made me want a Golden Retriever:o

It makes my Dad cry:D

After re-watching last night, I now want one as well. I've even gone as far as searching online for them, reading information on them and looking at prices for them!:o

I can't believe none of the child actors have did anything other than the two HB films. They haven't even got their own wikipedia pages for me to nosey at! :p

One of my favourite films ever. I love the second one too.

I cry buckets when Shadow says 'You've learnt a lot of things Chance, but now you have to learn to say goodbye.'

And the second one when you think Chance has been hit by the lorry

I think I'll watch them this weekend :D

OMG This is such a 90's kiRAB film, i can remember watching it like every day, when shadow gets stuck in the hole i used to cry buckets, then when they all go back apart from him, then he just comes, i'm gonna start crying right now just thnking about it, i still have it on video somewhere. I think i'm gonna have to upgrade it to dvd. I'm going to go watch it now. :D

The music is just superb. :)

And I hate how much Peter grew up in between the two movies. I liked him so much in the first movie when he was a young kid and was very vulnerable, but then in the second movie he just didn't seem as likeable and I hate how much he'd changed. :(

Definitely and after enjoying Homeward Bound so much I really wanted to see the original and luckily got the chance when the Disney channel arrived. I much prefer 'The Incredible Journey' but that is probably in part due to the fact I prefer the cat in it.

I used to love this film when I was younger and I re-watched it last year; I'm ashamed to say that I actually balled my eyes out. Especially when Shadow falls into that ditch thing - it's heartbreaking.

i didn't like it much :o it was okay, but it just felt weird for me because the characters had all grown up a bit and it was nowhere near as emotional as the first for me.

Homeward Bound?

Well,I saw The Incredible Journey years before seeing this and that was a really nice Disney movie, underrated too.
Nothing wrong with Homeward Bound either but I think a person will hold more affection for the one they saw first.
