Homer Simpson Stinks

Has anyone else noticed they haven't used this sort of gag in The Simpsons in a long time? Back in the classic era, they had quite a few jokes concerning Homer's supposed BO:

-Hog fat workers saying "...Do you smell something?" when Homer's nearby
-(After Homer headlocked Patty & Selma) "Now THERE'S a stink I could've done without."
-(After Homer's daydream) "Homer, I think you should see a doctor. I don't think a grown man should make that kind of smell."
-Homer: "It's a place I've never been before!" Selma: "The shower!"

So why do you think they stopped this running gag? And have there been any recent examples? I really can't think of any off the top of my head.

Oh, I thought this topic was about how awful the character's become over the years. Last night's episode, I couldn't tell if I was watching Homer Simpson being intolerant towards Muslims or Stan Smith doing his usual thing.

Sometimes running gags just die. And Stan Smith is funnier because his character is created to do things such as that, where when Homer does it it's just because the writers couldn't think of what to do with him in that episode.

Well in an episode just about 4 years ago, he was giving away clothes to the homeless( his own clothes ), which one of the bums responded with "These pants smell worse than my old pants." that's the most recent I can remember so I think it's still there.

The last odor joke I can remember was from "Natural Born Kissers", where Officer Wiggum was trying to find the couple that was making out at the mini golf course. He handed a dog Homer's underpants to get the scent, only for the dog to run away yelping. (The later news headline had a side story where the dog was "clinging to his life". :D)

I think we don't see these jokes no more because early on, The Simpsons had a blue-collar vibe to it. They were more effective at making stories about a man who can barely make the cut at work, has a hard time keeping his friends, and an even harder time earning the love and support of his family.

All of that seems to have vanished recently.
