At one time my dining room light worked. It stopped working after I installed 2 dimmers in the kitchen for the main light fixture(I believe this was the cause). The first dimmer socket has 3 black, 1 red, 1 ground. Second socket(closest to the dining room) has 2 black, one red and 1 ground. The first socket seems to be the controller - providing power to the second socket before providing power to the light.
I currently have the controlling socket wired like this - Power in(black) tied to black wire on dimmer. Red from wall to red on dimmer. Second red on dimmer tied to the 2 remaining black wires.
Second socket - black to black(power), red to red, red to black.
I should note that all the grounds are connected.
In this configuration, my kitchen light works great, but my dining room light is in a permanent off state.
What am I missing?!?!
I only have 1 power wire in the controlling socket and I would assume that the other 2 black wires run to 1.) the kitchen light fixture and 2.) the dining room.
Thanks!
