Home Remedy

Thank you, Quincy. One must also be careful about drinking too much cranberry juice. It is so refreshing that one can start guzzling it just for fun. Not a good idea. :-)

This is a good web site. I'm glad I discovered it. I have another question. I think most of us know the home remedy for a light case of urinary tract infection - drinking baking soda in water ever few hours. It works. However, it makes me very nauseus. Does anyone know a substitute for that baking soda. Ugh!

Hi  Some other fooRAB said to be good for the urinary infection include blueberry. Asparagus is said to stimulate urine production from the kidney and there are others good for the kidneys if there is interest in that organ. I would drink lots of water and empty the bladder as often as possible until the infection clears so that bacteria leave the bladder instead of having time to multiply. They multiply every 15 minutes. The holiday confections should be forsaken and fruits used in their place (but not with a vegetable meal). Hope this helps.

Thank you, sjb. I am curious about one statement: "fruits used in their place (but not with a vegetable meal)." Can you tell me why fruit not with vegetables?

Quincy, you said "Not all bacteria for bladder infections is e.coli....but probably worth a try initially..." Can you please tell us some of the other causes? Thanks.

It depenRAB on the type of UTI that you have. If it is an Ecoli infection than D'Mannos Powder works great.

Daily cranberry juice (or cranberry sauce) is a preventative. Baking soda is a remedy but only for "try this first" when symptoms appear. Also plenty of water. If 24 hours doesn't clear it up, off to the medical world.

the baking soda is to change the acidity of the urine so that bacteria won't live in it. Definitely the suggestion to use it immediately at first symptoms for one day only and if no improvement to get treatment.

It should NOT be used during pregnancy...however. Don't know exactly why, tho...just remeraber that warning.

The cranberry juice or tea or whatever helps prevent the bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall...it doesn't kill any bacteria I don't think.

I've heard of mannos (from mannitol as sugar substitutes in some food products..causes diarrhea for many)...but D'mannos as fighting bacteria..interesting. It mentions it's safe for pregnancy too....
Not all bacteria for bladder infections is e.coli....but probably worth a try initially...

Hi I hope I was not misunderstood. Vegetables can be important to health. Fruits could be had with grains and/or nuts in the morning. Vegetables could be had for lunch. More fruit and grain could be had for a light evening meal if desired. Some vegetables are considered important to kidney health.

HI well I read in a book that fruit with vegetables make a type of war in the stomach. Later in a class I heard that the fruits and vegetables compete for absorption in the same places. In chemistry class they taught people that some chemicals when put together with other ones make a fast reaction that can be something no one wants. I suspect that to some extent but this may be also happening with fruits and vegetables in my opinion. There seems to be a couple exceptions to some extent and that is the avocado, which does not taste well cooked in my opinion, and the lemon which can be added to greens and sometimes many a recipe without much difficulty. Hope this helps someone. Have a beautiful day!
