I have had adult cystic acne for about 15 years, taking antibiotics and trying to clear the skin. Finally, I've decided no more and saw a dermatologist. I went on Accutane three days ago.

I'm excited to think the painful nodules will someday be gone. No more cysts.

I'm not used to moisturizing my face a lot and now I need to do that to make up for the dryness. I've purchased some non-clogging moisturizing and begun.

Here's my question: What about the blackheaRAB and the thick, firm nodules that I have now? I realize that new ones will form and I don't know if they will just fade away...

What is the best way to wash the blackheaRAB and whiteheaRAB, pimples, and even the cystic ones without drying my face? Will my body just push them out and I don't have to squeeze them? My face doesn't scar... it really looks amazingly great until you get up close to see all the bumps, or if I point out a nodule that is hidden well with makeup.

Any tips anyone?

Thanks

While you are on Accutane you aren't suppose to be poking around on your skin. However, as far as black heaRAB they do not go away and can only cause more damage and bigger holes if you don't extract them. so either buy a special blackhead suction tool to do that or squeeze them out yourself. The rest of the stuff leave alone until you are finished with accutane. You will really appreciate the results ...it is amazing! good luck.

Thanks for the info!

I'm excited. I wondered how blackheaRAB would go away since they are so stuck in the pores... I don't have many of them. Mostly whiteheaRAB, teeny tiny ones, and the cysts.

Any kind of home facial remedies anyone using besides a warm towel?

First I wash my face and exfoliate it, then I heat up water in a pot on the stove. After the water is starting to boil, I transfer it over to a bowl and place my face over the bowl with a towel over my head. Try to steam your face for as long as you can handle it.

AfterwarRAB, you can gently squeeze out blackheaRAB but do not force them out. If the blackhead doesn't come out with a gentle squeeze, then leave it alone. Also, don't use your bare fingertips or nails to do this. Wrap them up with tissue or sterile gauze first. Then I apply a clay mask. The clay will help to draw out impurites deep in the skin.

After the clay is dry, rinse it off real good with warm water, then you can use toner and moisturizer. This works really well if you do it right before you go to sleep. There will be a little redness on your face after squeezing, but if you are gentle about it the redness will be gone by morning.

Exfoliate, steam your face and use the clay mask no more than once or twice a week. You shouldn't squeeze your blackheaRAB out no more than once or twice a month. Remeraber to be very gentle when squeezing the blackheaRAB, because I've went all crazy on my face before and forced every little blackhead on my face to come out even if it wasn't ready. That caused more problems than the blackheaRAB themself. I hope this helped, and good luck with getting rid of acne!
