Some recommended reading for you:

The Little World of Don Camillo, by Giovanni Guareschi.

Quite an old book, the chap died in 1968 but it's well funny. I think you will like it.

Read that years ago as well.

My Granny use to go to jumble sales and just buy every book she could get her hands on so there was always a large and eclectic selection in the house (she lived with us).
