Hoe do I train my puppy to sleep in a kennel at night without whining?

I have a 10 week old whippet puppy and I put him in the kennel last night to sleep. He whined for an hour before I let him come sleep with me. I have tried putting treats in the kennel. I never put him in it to discipline him. what should I do?

First of all to not get him out when he whines because hes ganna think everytime he cries your going to run to him. Try putting a warm bottle or a ticking clock it soothes them. try to get him tired before you go to sleep so he sleeps better. Hope this helps!

First make sure the kennel is very warm and comfortable - think pillows and a hot water bottle. Whippets love warmth. You will have to not give in at all and it could take a week or more. But honestly,
Whippets, along with a lot of sighthounds are notorious for craving warmth and human comfort. Mine used to sleep not only on the bed but all the way under the blankets! And the fact that you already gave in once means he will whine all the longer tonight.

try putting in a blanket for him to lay on as well as a regular analog alarm clock. he may be lonely and the sound of it will remind him of his mother's heartbeat.

Start with the kennel in your room maybe even on your bed right next to you. the slowly move it farther and farther away. i know its will break you heart to hear him whine but you have to keep him in there and let him cry him self back to sleep. eventually he will know that it is okay to be in a kennel
