simple:

v=d/t

Do this for both the 3 hours treck and for the 1.5 hours treck.
Find the average velocity of each treck in this way, then add them and divide by two. There you go.
 
a plane flies.014 km west for 3.0 hours then turns and flies .76km due south for 1.5 hors what is the average velocity of the plane?

im doing homeowrk. i have no idea were im going with this... even a formula would be good.
