Hit and run a parked car...HELP?

ok so one night I was driving in a neighborhood and it was raining, as I was backing up I hit a car but did not notice, I stopped a few blocks away to make a phone call when another car stopped next to me to tell me that I had hit the car and that she wanted to get my info. I believe she got my license plate, but I am not sure. I got scared and fled away, I have insurance and I am 19. I was so nervous that I left without thinking of the consequences. This happened in a neighborhood that I do not know, so I will not be able to recognize the car even if I wanted to. What are some options that I have? The reason I left was because that was my first time I accidently hit a car and I was really scared because I do not have money to pay for it since I am a college student. As I stated in the beginning I was not aware that I hit the car since it was nighttime and it was raining, I did not see the damage that I made because I thought I had just bumped into the sidewalk. What should I do since I do not know the car I hit and I am not familiar with the neighborhood in which this happened in?
After that night I have not been able to sleep well because of my conscience, I am a very smart student in college and do feel bad for the damage I cost, but my emotions took over me and led me to drive away.
I forgot to mention that this happened on 04/02/09...so not much time has passed by. I feel bad for the damage I cost, and regret driving away because I am afraid of the consequences. I have no idea where to find the owner of the vehicle or how to even spot the vehicle I hit, so that I can take responsibility for my actions.

sorry your screwed/ try to get on judge Judy...... If you are sure the women saw your plates try to go back to the neighborhood and try identify the car and find the owner and talk to him before he files a police report. If you don't think she saw you can't do a lot.

dude dont sweat it. if nothing happened to you car then for all you know it never happened. just lay low and pretend nothing is wrong... police dont give a s*** about small things like this its a waste of thier time.. haha fix ur car and no one can prove nothing. i have hit a few cars in the past and drove off :)

dude don't loose sleep over this, for all you know the person may not even take action. It's quite troublesome to file. I say sleep, eat, study, and live until you get a phone call ,THEN post this question again!

Best to be honest - it was raining, you thought you'd driven into the kerb. Then someone stops you - and you immediately think, albeit subconsciously that this person is possibly under the influence of drugs / alcohol / a stalker etc. I think it's a bit strange for someone else to follow you from the scene of your apparent accident, surely she would have just got your licence number and given that to the police? As far as you are concerned you hit kerb, not another car, and you were suspicious of this person's actions as you believed them to be 'under the influence of substance (s) unknown. In that case why did you not report it to the police? I expect because you didn't want to waste their time, and you didn't get a description of the woman's car, given the heavy rain, and the fact you wanted to get as far away from her as possible.
