History question..please help!?

I am really sick right now, but I must finish history homework before it begins to pile on me... (i just need a couple of more questions..)

But this is the one I need help with the most:
"Discuss the Compromise of 1850 in terms of background issues, the elements of the proposed compromise and the arguments for and against. Who benefitted and suffered from the compromise? How did the compromise fail to resolve the issue of slavery?

Compromise 1850 established a divided between free and slave states. It also allowed new states to chose to be a free or slave state.
The Compromise failed because it contributed to sectionalism in the U.S. It created an official divide between the free and slave states. It also included the Fugitive Slave Law which benifitted the South in that all fugitive slaves from the North must be returned south.
California was admitted as a free state, which pissed off the South.
