You would have to give religious arguments. The sacrificial victims, M. would say, are honored people. (They are not criminals being executed, etc.) From the honor given, the victims benefit. If the Aztecs did not make these sacrifices, the whole empire would suffer; from being shunned by the gods.
 
Hi! In my history project that's coming up, I have to be one of the "defense lawyers" that would defend Montezuma when accused of crimes against humanity by the spanish (sacrificing people) and I need some counter arguments/defenses that would make "him" safe. Thanks.
