HISTORY DEBATE: Was it necessary to drop the atomic bomb to end WWII?

NO The atomic bomb was nothing more that a show of power. In reality the Usa is the only country so far sick enough to use nuclear weapons on an enemy. They of all countries should not be allowed to posses them. But they have most and feel they can dictate who can and can't posses them. The Usa kidnapped Albert Einstein and threatened to kill his family if he did not work for them an invent the bomb. The Usa is the sickest country in the world

No, but it saved countless millions of American and Japanese lives.

Also without this small atomic bomb showing what destruction it caused, this was the only reason the cold war didn't break into full scale nuclear war, because USSR and USA understood that these more powerful bombs would do hundreds of times more damage than that of the two detonated in WWII

The Japanese were given a warning: Unconditional surrender or we will use all means necessary to achieve this.
After the first atomic bomb had been dropped the Japanese emporer refused to surrender so the second one was dropped

No it wasnt, before the bomb was dropped there were plenty of military weapon tests going on with a key objective to destroying Japanese factories. They all would have worked except before they could be put to use they had to drop the bombs. The president had an itchy trigger finger and he could have ended the way with a lot less civilian deaths which are all on his head because hes the one who made the call. No one else has any blame

No, dropping the atomic bomb didn't end the war, it stopped Japan. WWII essentially ended when we found Hitler dead. A-bomb was just a byproduct of Japanese persistence in American bound attacks. It was necessary to stop Japan, however even after we dropped it on Nagasaki the Japanese were still intent upon fighting so we dropped another on Hiroshima and I personally believe we sent them a communication saying that we had plenty more to wipe out their entire nation. So then they stopped :D

yes it saved American lives which are more important to our government than our enemies lives because their were 2 million soldiers defending japan and it proved american superiority

it dont think it was necessary, the united states already had a plan to invade mainland japan, civilians of japan were ready to fight with rakes and whatever they could. Atomic bomb was faster and no US casulties would happen so they threatned them by dropping another one if they did not surrender

Yes. The Japanese were showing a definite willingness to have their cities destroyed. People these days seem to have gotten the idea that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed more completely than other cities. That is simply not true. The difference is that the destruction in those cities was from one bomb each, where it took 300 or more bombers to do essentially the same to other cities. It was the idea that each of those 300 bombers could carry an atomic bomb that ended the war. Had the Japanese known there was only one more atomic bomb in theater, they might have continued the war. And keep in mind that the Japanese were killing, every month, about as many Chinese as there were Japanese lost at Hiroshima. So even if one rejects the arguments about American an Japanese casualties in an invasion of the Home Islands, the argument against use of the bomb requires a position that Chinese lives were worthless. Such racism is hard to take these days.
