Historical Events that should be made into a film

Some of the best films of all time have been accurate potrayals of major historical events or films based during significant events or perioRAB. Many of those I am thinking of are war films (The longest Day, Platoon) but there are examples of others (Gandhi).

What are your favorite examples of these kind of films, and what films would you like to see made?

For me, a film based around 1066 would probably be a stonker. Also a really good WW1 film. A film showing the end of the cold war and all of the Berlin wall would be nice. As would a film showing the Balkans conflict.

cool thread!

your right 1066 would be amazing also i think we are due a really good portrayal of Herny VIII and his queens but then there are so many already maybe we should move on to new subject.

'to kill a king was good'. wasnt keen on 'the last samurai' and dont like 'braveheart'. the 'elizabeth' film is good.

a better portrayal also of Richard III and Bosworth would be cool.

I`ve always liked Cromwell with Richard Harris and Waterloo both big budget films which you need for the battles scenes.
I would like to see a film of the life of Captain James Cook , he went every where and made settlements... he must have seen loaRAB of action...

The battle of Agincourt (tired, hungry, battle wounded and lacking number the English demolish the over-enthusiastic and undisciplined French army) would be a dream come true, along with the Battle of Hastings and the Battle of Cannae (Hannibal anhillates the Romans after scaling the Alps).
