I am trying to teach my Red Heeler pup to stay outside during the night And she is not happy. Crying & yelping for attention. Any ideas on the best way to transition her into sleeping outside? She's allowed inside during the day & evening.
Thanks

Why exactly can't she stay inside at night?

A 9 week old puppy should not be left alone at night, outside!

I am not against dogs sleeping outside, all of mine have BUT not when they are small puppies, the only way a puppy will not mind being outside is if it was born outside and has never known the comforts of inside!!

Leave her until she is much older to stay out.

Oh poor baby!! Why can't she stay in the house at night?? That is so sad, she is just a baby and really to young to be away from her mother. Bring that baby in the house or give it to someone that will take better care of her. You should be ashamed!!

In my opinion, a nine week old puppy should not be sleeping outside, she should be sleeping in a crate.

No. I woudn't be happy either if i was her . 9 weeks????Why do you want her to stay outside at night? You allow her in during the day and the evening so whats wrong with night? Is she warm enough out there? It's getting really cold. At 9 weeks they are still a baby and i think they should be inside, in the warm, with human contact. Just my opinion. But, if you insist on her being out there, then i would suggest a heated kennel that you allow her to get used to during the day. Start making her stay out there for short time during the day. But really, it's not good.
