Hiking group in Ridgecrest, Ca?

I am trying to find a good group of people to go hiking with in Ridgecrest, since my husband really doesn't enjoy it, and I'd like to hike more. I know the Sierra Nevadas nearby have lots of great hiking, but it's not safe to go alone, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a hiking club. Any other fun things to do in RC wold be appreciated too! :)
 
Ridgecrest is pretty remote. I don't know where the local Sierra Club chapter is, but there must be something in Lone Pine, Mojave, or California City.

One place I have found is meetup.com, where people with similar interests can get together.
 
Check out the Sierra club, and the national Park Service. There is beautiful hiking around Bishop .
