Highlight of You Weekend

I said that expecting it to cool down. It has been very hot, and dry here also. October should be about perfect riding weather.

We stop at dealerships by chance.

We picked up the ultra from dealer, dropped it off a couple days prior to get 1K service and alarm/pager installed. Left dealer on a week long tour. on the 5th day out stopped at an outta area dealer to replace pager battery(or to see what was wrong with it) The woman at the parts desk (couldve been owners wife) looked up P/N and retrieved it from the back , She popped open the pager and had a strange look on her face, looking at the battery for a few extra seconds and shrugged and said huh. I asked what, and she said all of the pagers she has seen HD supplies the battery and it is marked HD. My battery was some off brand and it lasted all of a week.

Moral of this story ... it's the little things

The new battery was three dollars and change , but I'm somewhat miffed at the home shop.

I never go to dealerships unless I need a specific part or something, period.

I used to enjoy dropping in to the small individualized shops back in the day - not any more. To me, the modernized, palatial, cookie-cutter buildings and sterile architecture are totally repellent.

It's hard for me because I work at a dealership so I have no intentions of buying parts, etc. because I can get them cheaper with my discount. However, I do like picking up the shot glasses and sometimes a t-shirt from a dealership when traveling. I sometimes end up at one, sometimes not.

This thread makes me think about how we always end up at a Walmart on a trip...I try to avoid both the dealers and Walmart actually.

If I go out of the states like Ireland-for sure!
My daughter picks on me like for making a big deal out of getting a t-shirt when were away, I just say you'll wear it when I'm dead.
