Hello, my name is Cassidy Baiz, I'm 17 years old and I'm addicted to fitness & nutrition. I weigh about 190 LBS and my body fat % is 8-10%. I havent touched a soda or any type of fast food in over 2 and 1/2 years. I eat a high protein low carb low fat diet. I'm in the gym everyday, every other day I target a major muscle group and on off days I focus on cardio. I'm an avid bike rider and bike over 100 miles every week. Recently, I started taking a look at my resting heart rate and heart rate during my workouts. I've done some research and I feel that my resting heart rate SHOULD be around 60 beats per minute. But my resting heart rate is 98-115 beats per minute and this is really concerning me.....Please help, I will be grateful for ANY information, answers or suggestionS!!

PS-Sorry if i provided any irrelevant information, I just wanted to get it all out there.

I suppose you could see an Emergency Room. How long have you rested before you took the resting rate? How long ago did you start your exercise program? How tall are you? Have you had any sore throats? Any other symptoms?

When I was a teen my heart rate was pretty high also when resting until I had exercised for a several months or even years it has been awhile back now.

I have even taken it hours after and before my workout just to be sure it isnt being effected by my workout. I started working just under two years ago. I'm 5'9. No sore throats. One thing I did forget to mention is I went threw a period of high blood pressure, I had all kinRAB of different tests done and they dismissed it saying it was probably just stress related.

"Resting heart rate" is typically measured when you wake up after sleeping, but before you get out of bed.

After exercise, your heart rate should come down (some fitness tests are based on it coming down faster in people with better fitness), but it will often remain a bit elevated over resting for quite a while afterward.

If the doctor said it was stress then worrying about it will not make the pulse any slower. How high was your blood pressure? How high is your blood pressure now? Do you have any known diagnosis? Do you do any medicines or substances? What tests have you had?

The blood pressure predicament was over a year ago, my doctor came to the conclusion that it was stress related but I wasnt stressed in any way at all. He had me keep track of my blood pressure over a period of a month and the nurabers ranged from 120/70 on the downside and on somedays it would fly over 160/80 it appeared that my systolic was always out of whack and my diastolic would be somewhat normal. I also had blood smaples taken and an EKG. I'm not on any meRAB. I havent taken my blood pressure in a few months and im not sure what it is currently.
