High idle/rev up on startup Jeep Grand Cherokee 2000?

We have recently purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2000 - good condition, but we have noticed a high idle or rev up on startup and wondered if this is normal, or if anyone has ideas what may be causing this?
