High Def Photos Vs Facebook Resizing/Redefining?

Now I'm sure every photographer or even a person who really pays attention to photos uploaded to Facebook realizes not only does Facebook resize the photos, It also redefines it....
Even if I did resize my photo to the "Facebook Standard"...Everything is cool & jolly...It keeps the size that I put it at because it met the standard...or smaller in some cases. I keep it no larger than 720 by 480 & 640 by 480...And sometimes smaller. But the thing is...It seems that SO MUCH QUALITY is raped from the photo itself...It appears blurred a bit, weak on color, smooth instead of Nice and Crisp....WHATS UP WITH THAT!! I hate it so much. I just don't know what to do. Is it something I can do on Photoshop Cs5 to keep my primary definition to the photo? It has to be because I've seen some very Crisp photos that looks like they haven't even been effected on bit all throughout Facebook. This is in regards to Night Club Photography and Personal Photoshoots...
Can some one please give me their best knowledgeable insight on How to maintain the original crispness of the photo. If you have crisp photos uploaded to your Facebook...Please tell me what your doing to keep that photo like that way. Id HIGHLY appreciate it
