Hiccups for the last 3 months.

Hey, for the last 3 months i've been hiccuping randomly at least 5 times a day every day. I'm pretty sure these are not going to go away without finding out whats causing them. And boy, do I want to find out whats causing them.

Heres the deal folks, I know it seems silly. But this is a HUGE problem to me because i'm working on becoming a professional singer/actor. Who'd want to hiccup during a solo/part and ruin the performance and mood in front of an entire paying audience? Not me. Since I can't promise that I won't mess up my part because of these hiccups, I can't audition because i'm a liability to the shows performance. Which sucks. Big time.

They obviously arn't natural because i've had them for so long and they pose a very embarrassing threat to my career.

How do I approach my doctor about this? I don't want him to brush it off like its nothing, but I don't want to insist its importance to the point of seeming like a hypocondriac.

hello, i have had hiccups for the past 2 years and told the doctor about my hiccups in november, and they gave me two different types of pills, whish didnt work. i have hiccups all day every day and they dont sound like the average hiccup, they are very high pitched. i have juts been referred to a gastro-intestinal specialist who thinks that my colon is inflammed and i am being apoointed an endoscopy some time soon to see if there is anything wrong in my tummy. Once i have had this endoscopy i will let you know the outcome of this, and hope that this will help. i was embarrassed when i told the doctor, but the sooner you do it, the better because there are plenty solutions out there for everyone. Hope this helps, Emma.

i kno this is gonna sound crazy but my boyfriend has really bad diabetes and it causes him to hiccup all day everyday... actally if he puts the pump on itll stopp but ask em to take a blod test it may help

Hiccups - Acupuncture. I've been treating a man with intractable hiccups. They came on as a result of a stroke and he had them for 18 miserable months before coming in. They stopped for 6 days after his second acupuncture treatment. Then stopped for several days after the third treatment, and again after the 4th. I don't know how long his treatments need to last before they are gone for good, but for now he is VERY relieved for the peaceful breaks in the diaphragmatic spasms. Look in your Yellow Pages and go to an Oriental Medicine practitioner with an actual Master's degree, not somebody with a little certificate in acupuncture. Good luck!
