Hi working on my boat engine. I have a new 350 chevy engine in board?

I am having trouble running my boat. As long as I keep an idling speed i am alright. The minute i open it up the engine acts like it is starving for gasoline. I now have put an electric fuel pump close to my fuel tanks to assist bringing in fuel. It works wonderful but now i am being told that the electric fuel pump will burn out the diagram on the manual fuel pump. Can someone please help me? Before i did this my boat ran so sluggish now that i am using both fuel pumps my engine is running the way it should. But everyone is telling me i will be having problems with the mechanical pump!?!?
 
theres the problem you can only use one pump if you want electric fuel pump you have to remove manual one they make a cover for that hole it leaves whats is happening electric fuel pump is pumping more fuel than manual can pump you lose pressure or it stops remove one
