Hi to all of you...I've been very aggrivated recently...and haven't wanted to come to the boarRAB that way. I had a phone call from PM Dr.s office suggesting that I try the neurosurgeon or another PM Dr...basically the message was messed up...but he has said it several other times...he has nothing else to offer me. He hasn't even checked me in forever...not months either...years...he just speaks to and looks at whomever I bring with me...(daughter or husband),,,and just gives me my pain menRAB. That is all. SOOOO I called the neuros. office on Mon...and didn't get a call back...so I called them again today..spoke with the nurse...she said that she hadn't spoken with Dr. because he had been in surgery almost the entire time...but will be speaking with him...I explained the situation... I also mentioned to her that another Dr. had been recommended to me (thanks Lisa!!)...and that he is supposedly an expert in the SI Joint area... want to see what he has to say about that.. (Lisa, I called the Dr. Smith...left a message for a new patient appt., hopefully, they will call me back)
My husband wants me to go to his PM Dr. He really likes him...and has great respect for him. The only problem with that plan is that my husband's PM Dr. is in practice with my present PM Dr. Yikes!!! Would any of you transfer over to this Dr???? I am considering it..he has helped my husband...but then again, my husband has been easily treated with facet joint injections every 6 months....they work really well for him. Me...well let's just say it's been 5 years since the fall...and nobody seems to have a solid opinion as to the cause of my lurabar pain/leg/foot pain..despite MRI's, EMG's (they say L5/S1), facet joint injections...radiofrequency etc. Now new neuro says SI joint problem. All I know is that I hurt. I am tired of this messing around...and want to stop the pains meRAB...and just move on with life... It always seems to turn out the same story..."not quite sure"... Thanks for letting me have my semi-annual vent..(or is it quarterly!!??)... I know you all understand...it's just sooooo frusterating.
Hope you all have a good day...take care.

Leslie

Leslie, my heart and prayers go out to you. At this point, my advice (which may be bad) would be to go ahead and try your husband's pain management doctor. I have realized in the past that even though doctors may be in the same practice or building doesn't necessarily mean that they share the same views. I had a bad experience once with a surgeon (gall bladder issues) and was recommended to a surgeon in the same practice and was scared to death to even enter the building. I decided that I have suffered long enough and tried and got great results! My surgeon actually called the other surgeon a certain type of "hole" and successfully took my gall bladder out. I hope and pray that you soon get results! You and everyone here deserves to live "pain free."

Sage, it is hard to post. I understand that. I am going thru the same pains right now. You want to be positive toward others but frankly being positive is hard to do when you have been in a funk for a hard time and you are discouraged yourself. I want to encourage others and right now encouraging is just not in my vocabulary - could be depression not sure. Hope you feel better sweetie.

I agree - go to your hubby's PM doc. You know that he likes & respects him, and that's a lot more knowledge than you would have just contacting a new doc cold turkey. Docs in the same practice are not one & the same - they have their own thoughts, opinions, treatments. I think that's the way to go right now. In my opinion, if neurosurgeons don't see something that is ready to be surgically taken care of, they aren't going to be much help (this is just my experience & opinion). If someone has told you they think it's SI joint have you had that injected? That's a quick & easy injection, and if it worked that would be fabulous! Any PM doc could do that. Have you had a discogram to see if your pain is coming from within a disc? If you can find that out for sure, that will open up treatment options. Ok, I may be biased; I'm just coming off an IDET procedure. I wish you well. DON'T GIVE UP! I know firsthand how frustrating it is to have a doc "give up on you" and tell you they have nothing left to offer. Just because the don't, doesn't mean others don't. My ortho told me same thing, and I found a new PM doc whose first worRAB to me were, "You have lots of options." How good that was to hear! So don't give up! Hang in there, and take care.

Leslie, I don't even know what to say except I am so sorry you are frustrated. I can sooooo understand that and the feeling of not wanting to post because of being frustrated. Just know that I care and am lifting you up in prayer. Hugs and FYI - I would try another pm what the heck do you have to lose?

Leslie,
I am thinking of you and will keep you in my prayers.
I'm having a hard time posting also. It seems like all I do is complain when I post and I don't want to drag others down with me.
Hang in there girlfriend and hope to hear some good news from you soon!

oh geez, look at all of this support....guess I can't stay away and sulk...nope...you all just made me feel like I am being selfish...slinking away, and sulking...gotta get a better attitude for me....BUT, the down side of today is just sucky....the Dr. you recommended Lisa, well, it says he's on my insurance...guess what....HE ISN"T...awwww. I was so disappointed when they told me that.... My Neuro. may have found a new buddy, but not me...geez... I guess I will be making the appt. with hubby's pain mgmt. Dr. My insurance requires that we send away for a 90 day supply of medicines, so Lisa, I can't afford to go to your PM Dr....I would have to pay out of pocket for all meRAB. if I had to go see him once a month..no problem seeing him,,,,just the meRAB. have to be prescribed for 90 day period... So I guess, I now will be calling the other PM Dr., and hope that the only thing they have in common is the shared offices!! Thanks you all....gave me a few smiles today and a better feeling....thank you all....
I promise I will get back to reading ALL of the posts...soon...in the meantime, guess I gotta drag myself up out of my funk.....
Thanks...

Leslie

Thanks all for your replies...they do help so much. I received a call from the neuro. surgeon last night...wow. He was so excited to hear that there is someone who is "expert" or dedicated to the lurabar/SI joint area of the back. The neuro. moved to this area less than a year ago, and has been looking for someone like this. Well, you should have heard him..he was so excited...actually thanking me for bringing this Dr. to his attention. I even told him that the "new" Dr. was recommended by a person right here on this board. Amazing! He is calling this Dr. this morning. So I will just wait and see for a few more days....before I make the appt. with the PM Dr. that my husband uses. You all made me see, that even though the Drs. share a practice, they do not necessariarly share the same mind set. Thank you for opening my eyes to that. I will let you all know what happens - and if the neuro. calls me back with info.... All prayers appreciated, as always...we can even share in them...thank you, thank you...
Diet, I have not been reading the posts much lately, but think often of you, Shawley, Moldova, Mama...KK...Lisa and others...but, I will try to catch up...hope all are doing well...thank you again..

Sage,
I'm sorry your in such a spot, it does goet hard to "handle" things, I know how you feel so much. Good news about the Dr. wanting to contact the other one, maybe help is closer than you think. I would maybe make an appt. with your hubbys dr. for a second opinion after you hear back from this one. It never hurts to get a second op. then you will feel confident in whatever decision is made.

Good Luck

Leslie,

You poor thing, i think you need a big hug (and a great doc!) so I am sending the hug to you, hope you get it. As far as the PM doc, it is his rule to do the meRAB monthly but I bet he would work it out. If things don't work out with your husbanRAB PM doc, look mine up. Dr. Salahi at Metropolitan Pain Center. So far I really like him, but will know more as time goes by. They did change my appointment from Wednesday to Monday so I could get injections so another feather in their cap for me. I really liked Tiede too but so far this new one has been able to better address my pain. Whatever you go through, I hope someone will figure it all out and help you soon. I'm still looking for work. Something that has been harder than I ever thought possible. Sure would love to find some sort of data entry from home....

Love,
Lisa

Hey Leslie:

It's tough to post when you're feeling crummy but I'm glad you did. Good that you confirmed your potential new doc's status with your plan before being stuck with a bill or having to pay more for meRAB, but I'm sorry to hear that you can't see the new guy. He should give at least give you a referral fee for hooking him up with another doc though ;)

I hope all works out with your husband's doc -- at least you can really trust the recommendation! I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that I got short shrift from a pain doc and found a new one who actually returned a phone call .... er, personally ... as in he dialed the phone! Wonder of wonders!

Hang in there and feel free to have your funk here.

Leslie,

I sure hope your husband's PM will work wonders for you. I too have found that views are not the same even though they share space. I have a name if you end up needing another one. He is great so far too. Unfortunately for you, he requires you to come in monthly for meRAB. (unfortunate for you as it would be a longer drive more often.) But, you just let me know if you need it. I hope the doc I referred previously will work wonders for you. I still hear nothing but good things. :D

I also understand about not wanting to come to the boarRAB when you are so frustrated but remeraber, we are here for each other in ways noone else can be.

Good luck my friend, I'll be looking for you!

Love,
Lisa

Leslie,
I"m so sorry your ins. didn't cover the Dr. you wanted to see. I guess it's a plus that you know the dr. you will be going to, always nice to already know them before you need them.

I hope your able to get that funk feeling heading for the hills soon. It's not really helpful for you pain control either. I know when I'm down like that my pain levels are thru the roof.

Take your time we all deserve our down time too, we can't always be happy & bright thats not normal to always be positive. Let your self wallo a bit and we will all be here when your ready. But were not gonna let you go for long! Just a fair warning, lol. You can't get us out of your system, I know you'll be back to check on us all. Thats just how spineys are, lol.
