hi ,my son got the fuse panel junction box wet while washing motorcycle..wont

start..help! any biker enthusiasts have any suggestions its a kawasaki vulcan 1500 1998 now it wont start everything lites up....but electric start wont fire...he had the seat off washing it and got it too wet(aghh!) 20 yr old trying to be 40 lol...anyway a uncle put a electrical tester on the fuse box and it appears the box is fried ..does that sound right..??all ideas , thoughts welcomed..peace...be safe out there..

No, that doesn't sound right.
If everything lights up and the only circuit that doesn't work is the starter circuit, look for a bad fuse or breaker in that circuit.
Also look for a wire or connector that may have come unplugged while the seat was removed, or while the bike was being washed...
 
First, pull all the fuses out of the fuse box, dry them and put them back in. Sometimes just pulling the fuses and putting them back in will get them to contact again. Water on a fuse is a pretty quick connection breaker when the water drys you can get instant oxidation.

Yes there is a starter relay, should be a little black box, but they are sealed and I doubt water would effect that. You can locate the relay but hitting the start button and follow the clicking sound, if there is no clicking sound then you aren't even getting power that far.

He may have got water directly on the wire connectors going into the starter too, pull those off and clean them and put them back on too.

Go to the fuse box, pull fuses and put them back in..check them while you have them out as well. Pull the starter wires and dry/clean them... if it is still not starting..trying pulling the seat off and sitting the bike out in the sun for a few hours, maybe whatever is wet will dry out and the bike will start.
