Hi, I have just changed the auto transmission oil on my mazda mx5. I didnt

change the filter.? The problem is that the car has no drive or very little drive on reverse or forward. It was working perfrect before i change the oil. I dont think the gears are damaged. I didnt drive the car after that btw. Any help of what i should do is much apreciated.

depends how you changed the oil, you may have lost a sealing ring , used the wrong fluid, not put enough in , why did you think it needed changing? the level has to be checked with the engine running, hot, after selecting all the gears a few times

what year is it? the newer vehicles like 04-05 and up import actually have to use the oil from the dealership. but did you check the oil level? make sure your checking the right one... and the filter not being change doesnt have a effect in this situation since it ran before. make sure you add right amount of fluid and make sure you didnt leave anything loose

The only time you need to change the tranny filter is when it is dirty or the seal are broken. Or change every 50,000-80,000 my recommendation for a better drive. And did you put the rite tranny fluid in? You also have to check the fluid by turning on the engine for 30 min. or more. If you don't know your tranny fluid type look it up in your manual it should tell you.
