...never spoken to .....? Hi -I got home from the hospital and when getting out of my car a neighbor that I have never spoken to .....?
states that home I am renting is for sale. I explain this is not possible as I haven't heard anything. One hour later a Rep from the local Court knocks on my door and wants me to sign some papers for my landlord-I refused. Court rep refuses to tell me why my landlord is being served. Three hours later my mother opens the door and its the postman with Certified Bank letters that need signatures from someone. The postman tells me that 99% of the time these letters that he delivers from the banks are pre-forclosure letters. I have tried to investigate thru the courts but I cannot find anything. Everyone is telling me not to pay a dime to my landlord as yesterday she called me demanding July's rent when its still June. A realtor told me I can loose all my money as I paid 3deposits to this landlord and after I moved in she requested an additional $250 that was not part of the lease. I need advice or help as I hae tried many websites and can't find anything.-Thank You

I think I would be looking for another place to live, and give the landlord notice. You likely have been told correctly, that you won't get your deposits back, and that the house is in foreclosure.

It is up to you if you want to pay another month's rent, but you might find that you are not going to have a place to live in July. Try contacting your landlord and having a frank conversation with them. It may be they are still hoping to save the house by paying on the mortgage, and would like your July rent to pay with. If you feel assured you are not going to be out on the street, and can pay in advance, it might be the best thing to do.

If you find that the house is in foreclosure maybe you can ask about purchasing it from the landlord, if you have the money it takes to bring the mortgage current.

You may be able to get financing if you purchase the home. You will have to pay taxes up front and closing costs, legal fees, and get a title search, and title insurance, but these costs can usually be included in the mortgage.

Repeating the same information is not additional information :(

Good Luck

sounds like your landlord defaulted on his rent, but still wants you to pay. since you are basically paying the mortgage on that property why would it be in default, unless hes just putting the money in his pocket. at the very least i would put the deposits toward the rent when figuring what i owe (since you probably wont get it back)

You will never see your deposit money again. Do not pay a dime early. Give her 30 days notice on July 1 and tell her to take it out of the deposit (I assume you paid the last month rent as a part of the deposit.)

When the bank takes the house your lease is void. The Sheriff can and will put you out on little or no notice.
