Hey buddy, welcome back  Don't stay gone so long. We need you here to keep us smiling :D
Glad you're doing OK but sorry the pain is a little worse. Are you going to have another injection? Good luck with your hearing, hopefully it will be all good news! Does the state of PA pay a settlement for a back injury? VA doesn't require that a settlement be paid for back injuries only. They will sometimes settle if there is a back injury with subsequent leg involvement. Weird how it varies from state to state.
My PM is pushing REALLY hard for a SCS for me. I'm not quite there yet...I don't feel like we have exhausted all our options with meRAB. It may come down to me having to get one if no meRAB work well, but by then I will have come to grips with it and be ready for it!
Have a good day...I'm sure the wife appreciates all the projects you've been doing! How is she doing in nursing school?

Hi Shawley,
Just wondering how you are doing with your back and post op appendectomy. We miss your much needed humor on the board! :jester: I hope all is going well and that we hear from you soon!

Deb

Hey Shawley,
Good to hear your doing ok. My Pm told me that about the stim, it will get rid of the foot & leg but not the back pain. He told me that it will probably only lessen my foot & leg pain by maybe 50%, that isn't too good of nurabers for me to go thru all that at this point either.

I have been having some big time problems with my BP & diabetes so the back, foot & leg are on the back burner for now.

I'm going to post my latest issues on another thread, don't want to hog all your replies.

Please check in here & there, we need yoru experience & humor.

God BLess

What is a stimulator and how do you get one?maybe I could use that instead of going through any surgery

Deb, I chatted with Shawley not long ago and he is doing well after his appendectomy. Back pain is still there and he takes meRAB but he is out there enjoying life camping. He still uses his stim and it helps with the pain some and in his worRAB some is better than none.

Hi Shawley:

Just wanted to say hey and glad you're having some fun. I only watched the Superbowl Tom Petty half-time show, but congrats on the Giants. I trust you're on the mend and glad to hear you're taking good care of yourself, even if it means not sitting at the computer too much.

Rest up and hope your back feels better. I, too, have managed to relieve some of the leg/foot pain and now the back is what bothers me most. I find leg pain much more intolerable so good news there.

Sweet dreams,
Schragie-girl

Howdy folks ,

Deb -W/C don't have to settle , but if they want me off their insurance they will . ;) Personally I don't care either way ifthey settle or not..

As far as the stimulator implant, it's nothing compared to what we went through...I don't even know it's there anymore..You can't notice it after a while..Honestly I can't see why anyone wouldn't try it if there in alot of pain ?
Maybe you gal's are thinking way to much into this stim surgery ? I wouldn't lie to anyone of you..It's worth the try ..Deb I should call for another injection but gonna wait until it gets pretty painful before jumping into them so soon..Thanks for starting this thread...It was sweet of you .:)

Carol - Wish you were better ,,Your going through alot ..Even if you got 50% less pain , wouldn't that be great ? I was happy to get 50% less..Sometimes we need a break from this pain...Yes I would worry about your diabetes first..Thats scary..and your not hogging my thread..I don't mind at all .. Take care and hope things get better ..

Apocolypto --Spinal cord stimulator is a wire lead run along your spine /nerves to help stop pain ..You carry a battery about the size of a cell phone in your butt cheek or belly.. If you have damage that neeRAB fixed this won't be good for you..You need repaired...Hope I helped ?

Schragie-Girl ,
How are you ? I'm doing great thanx .. Yep I watched Tom Petty too , boy's he's looking ruff nowdays..I used to be a huge fan of him. I have to becareful sitting to long on this thing,,kills my back anymore..I'm glad you ask about me..you all make me feel very special ...Lucky Boy I guess :D Hope to see you and the others around the boarRAB..Take care..Glad the feet pain is tolerable..
Shawley

Thanks Pepper, I'm glad to know he is doing so well. Tell him we miss him here on the board but are glad he doesn't have the time that we do to be on the computer! ;)

Deb

Pepper,
Please tell Shawley I'm so glad he's LIVING again. I think about him often, his humor is always appreciated. Give my best as well.

God Bless

Carol

Aww, you people are to kind ..I haven't been on here much . I been doing little things around the house trying to keep buisy..Being on this computer hurts my back ..I'm sorry I haven't checked in , in a long time ..I been thinking of you gal's too .. I will try to come here more often ..

Things are pretty good still . I have a hearing on the 15th about a possible settlement ..My back pain has gotten a little worse but still managable .. We watched the Giants win the superbowl last night :D had fun ..Chili chips and dip ..No booze tho ...Can't drink with these meRAB , it taste horrible anyway.

Who wants to try the stimulator ? I'll be honest with all you..It does help with the leg and feet pain .. But for me it doesn't touch the back pain . But you might be happy with no leg / feet pain right ? I'd say go for it . You can always have it removed if it don't work for ya..

How are you all doing with pain ? Hope things are better ...Have to run ( walk)

Shawley :)

Hey Shawley,
Thanks for the positive comments on the SCS. :) I have heard other good things about it...people feeling that they have been given another chance at a normal life. I feel pretty certain I will need one one day, but hopefully I can put it off for a little while. Hang in there my friend and hope to see you "around" more often.
