HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

excellent, thank you.

i've tried Cocteau Twins, and they're tough to listen to. but Cranes were also hard at first, but now i really dig them, so i'll keep listening.

i've heard a bit of Larab, but the others are new to me.

~ edit ~

Mortal Coil didn't grab me, but i picked up all of Autumn's Mortal Coil's albums, very good stuff! still looking into Baxter...

^ Give Swans - Soundtracks For the Blind a try.

As for non-elevator music you can nod off to, try some down-tempo trip-hop like Morcheeba's Big Calm, or Thievery Corporation's the Mirror Conspiracy. Brian Eno's arabient albums, like Music For Airports fit the bill quite nicely too.

Have you heard CAKE, or Flobots? What about Wilco?

Have you heard Apocalyptica? It's not guitar, it's cello believe it or not. But they play lots of Metallica and other heavy metal stuff. If your just looking for some great guitar playing, what about Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Dweezil Zappa, or Yngwee Malmsteen?

Times Of Grace is a good album.

EDIT: There is no 'R' in Clannad. May help a little more with searching.

I think you would love Riverside, an excellent melodic Prog Rock band. Also Pure Reason Revolution are great too. Dark Suns, Sieges Even and the last few Fates Warning releases will be spot on.

Hi I am POD and Papa Roach fan . I have listened to almost all of their albums and I am wondering if I could discover their soundalike somewhere, somwhow ...

Do anyone sugest any artists ?

Merciful Fates - Don't Break the Oath will not disappoint if you're interested in heavy rhythms, screaming guitars and wailing vocals. Musically, this is equal to the best Priest and Maiden, but it's also considered Black Metal, meaning there's a lot of demonic imagery in the lyrics, which I find kind of amusing in a badass sort of way. That shouldn't stop you from enjoying one of the greatest pull out all the stops, hot-dogging, show stopping heavy metal releases. If you don't want to go there stick to Rainbow, Halloween, Metal Church and Symphony X.

I agree other than I hate Tool. And havent heard Drive Like Jehu, Unwound, or the Ex. Actually, Im just going to use that list of reccomendations, even though I hate all those metal banRAB that kid mentioned.

Relationship of Command was pretty good, I think I like most of my Mars Volta a little bit better, but still good. I'll listen to In/Casino/Out tomorrow sometime.
