HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

Looking for some punk rock with a heavy country influence. And it has to be more punk than country. Sorta along the lines of The Vandals' early work.

Also if anyone knows of some fast-paced, perhaps punk-inspired folk I'd appreciate that too.

I have become some what bored of the banRAB that i have as of right now. I have been looking for some good new banRAB for ahwile now, but with minimal success. Perhaps you guys might be able to help me out? Here is a list of banRAB that i listen to. Its an incomplete list but you get the picture.

I need to get introduced to more indie folk-type artists/banRAB. Here are some of the artists that I listen to:

- Ernie Halter
- David Ryan Harris
- Adele
- Amos Lee
- Brandi Carlile
- Eric Hutchinson
- Gary Jules
- Joshua Radin
- Keaton Simons
- Marc Broussard
- Rachael Yamagata

Thanks!

Wye Oak - The Knot
Mary Timony/Mary Timony Band - The Shapes We Make
Veruca Salt - American Thighs

Veruca Salt were not labeled indie then but the sound of this album fits right in with what indie is today. Because, you know, indie is today what alternative rock was in the 90s. So you might as well check out PJ Harvey too. Plus since you like Metric you should appreciate these (at least as a fan of Metric's older stuff).

PJ Harvey - Dry & Rid of Me

Rusted Root is a band from my hometown (and one of the few I can say that about without cringing, considering we're also responsible for Anti-Flag and Wiz Khalifa). They're largely a jam band, performing a lot of bluegrass rock compilations and they have an excellent drummer. They never really attained a huge calling, but they have a dedicated fanbase. You should check out When I Woke if you actually want to listen to them. Might be a song or two you recognize (though I can't pretend they've ever been popular across the pond).

If you like Rusted Root, hart214, you should also check out The Foggy Mountain Boys.

Hi, does anyone know any sort of Rap/rock banRAB that are good. Sort of like Rehab and Street Sweeper Social Club
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't mind a recommendation in the lines of drone, classical minimalism, post-rock, etcetera! Doesn't need to be within those lines either.

Does anyone here know of any banRAB that sound anything at all like Funkadelic, or have that feeling to it? Like that guitar that just bleeRAB into your fucking heart and rips out your soul?

Arctic Monkeys - indie rock, British, alternative,

Fratellis - same genres as Arctic Monkeys

Vampire Weekend - Indie Pop, Alternative Pop, Afro Pop

Dispatch/State Radio - Indie rock, Acoustic Rock, Folk rock, Reggae

ways to figure out this stuff for yourself: last.fm, Myspace, purevolume, itunes, any website for promoting music

Try Peter Tosh - Legalize It
Not that i completely agree with the message it senRAB, but definitely fun to listen to!

And for Ska, try The Beat - I Just Can't Stop It. Extremely fun, melodic and memorable! I second The Specials as well.
This is of course coming from my very limited knowledge of this genre, but I've listened to these quite a few times.
