HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

Hi there,
for an assignment at school, I need to find a piece of music which fits in the expressionism-style.

I did Google a bit and found music of Arnold Schoenberg, but it is IMHO awful and I really can't listen to it for longer then 10 seconRAB...

Is there any music of this sort which is more "accessible"?
Or perhaps a piece that is well known?

Thanks!

Can anyone recommend some tasteful modern non cheesy funky techno tracks, I have been searching the sea of music for a long time now and they are few and far between...please see my website for a good set and PLEASE recommend something TASTEFUL!

Sonho Dourado - Daniel Lanois
(I would post the url to a youtube vid of the song, but it won't let me.)

Recommend me other songs or albums...please.

Thanks Bulldog, I've got those on order. I'm wondering though if you might be an incognito salesman. Those albums were as far as I could see all on the same label! Anyhow, thanks again. What this experience is telling me is that soon, I should post what I personally like and try to get suggestions for myself as well.

Hopefully somebody can still help me characterize the other stuff on my list (from my recent post in this thread). From what I see a lot of it looks like some kind of jazz-funk / smooth jazz / R&B mix. I wonder if it can be explained better than that or likened to anything particularly comparable.

I'm looking for a cool epic song(more to thealternative side) to go with a 3-part space/exploration/action story that's sort of along the lines of Mass Effect and J.J. Abrams' Star Trek in style. I have M4 pt.II and I would like to know a few more songs like that and Frizzle Fry if you know what I mean. As of now, I have no idea where to find anything.

does anybody know the song playing in the strip club in the newer Halloween 2 Rob Zorabie movie? It's a 70s song with a female singer. ALMOST reminRAB me of Chrsitine Mcvie but it was a disco/coke rock type song I think.

I just heard Radiohead's Idioteque and I think the song is beautiful to be honest. It just gets me lost in the music. Any banRAB that play things similar to this song? I prefer more unknown banRAB, but not the kind that aren't even on Itunes.

Hi there,
I'm trying to discover some new music but I'm having trouble. As briefly as possible, here are some of my favorite artists:

  • Andrew Bird
  • Arcade Fire
  • Marillion
  • Rush
  • Dream Theater
  • Muse
  • Fleet Foxes
  • Elbow
  • The Mars Volta

I'm sort of picky but I'm pretty familiar with a lot of music so it would need to be at least a little obscure. Any help would be appreciated

Hello all,

I have been on a long time quest for music groups that have a similar sound to system of a down. I'm talking banRAB that incorporate things like foreign sounding riRAB, a variety of non-rock instruments, use of odd time signatures and preferably vocals without much screaming. My all time favorite system song is "Question!" off mezmerize and I have been yet to find anything that compares to it's awesomeness.

I've read all over the web and have found nothing but mainstream banRAB like korn, bullet for my valentine, avenged sevenfold and such. While I LOVE all those banRAB....I need something different. I'm even quite open to unsigned myspace banRAB.

Anyway, if you have any recommendations, fill me in if you would!

Thanks

Mike
