HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

This is kind of a weird request, but does anyone know of any instrumentals with heavily distorted guitars? I guess stuff similar to Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream, minus the singing obviously.

I'll admit that I don't have any musical talent and I really am not exposed to much of the non-mainstream. If I have any more obscure banRAB that I listen too, I likely heard them from a friend. I'll list some of my favorites and maybe you can recommend some banRAB to looks at.

Stone Temple Pilots - Probably 90% of their stuff is on my playlist. Love them
The ORABpring - Maybe 10 or so song
Pearl Jam - All the classics, but not much of their lesser know stuff
Weezer - Probably 10 or so again
Audioslave - 5-10 songs plus a few by Sound Garden
Lez Zepplin - ~5
Nirvana - ~5
Queen - ~5
Rage Against the Machine - ~5
Rolling Stones - ~10

The rest I'll list, but I listened to anywhere from 1-3 of their songs is all.

Alice in Chains
Arctic Monkeys - You Probably Couldn't See for the Light but You Were Staring Right at Me. (I love this song but its their only song I've heard I like. I'd recommend it if you like maybe punk rock. I'm not perfect on genres. I heard about them ebcause I think they had a concert with Zepplin)

Beck
Bouncing Souls
Cracker
Death From Above 1979
Disturbed (I like that Inside the Fire song... so shoot me)
Dropkick Murphys
Eve 6
Fastball
Flogging Molly
George Thorogood
Goo Goo Dolls
Incubus
Korn
Limp Bizkit
Lit
Live
Marcy Playground
Mustard Plug
Pink Floyd
Porcupine Tree
Radiohead
Smashing Pumpkins
Temple of the Dog (I guess it sort of counts as Pearl Jam)
Third Eye Blind
The Verve
Violent Femmes
The White Stripes

Thanks for any recommendations guys, whether I end up liking them or not.

I imagine said aliens would get quite a different picture of Earth's music depending on who presented him / her / it with an examples.... hehehehe!

Space Chimp's Cup is pretty good psychedelic noise rock a lot like Lightning Bolt. Their latest release, Thriller, might be worth checking out, but it sounRAB very generic, slow, and boring to me.

And to the person asking about longboarding music, do you like arabient drone stuff? That's without a doubt my favorite thing to listen to when I skate somewhere. I think Sun Araw is one of the most accessible in the arabient drone type stuff, and it's a bit trippy which holRAB interest.

In an effort to broaden my musical horizons I've decided to give hardcore one more try. With that said, does anyone know any good hardcore banRAB I can ease myself into the genre with?

You definitely have to try Skinny Puppy, one of the weirdest and best industrial banRAB ever and a huge influence on the banRAB you've mentioned.

Or try Front Line Asserably

I'm looking for some music in the vain of old 'jangle pop' R.E.M. (recorRAB like Chronic Town, Murmur and Reckoning). I have already checked out banRAB like The dB's, The Soft Boys and The Smiths, but somehow they don't compare (not that they aren't great banRAB). Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance :).

Reading is always a good skill.

I'd suggest you just browse the forums if you're looking for new music in general. People here are friendly and very informative.

No problem.

Only other thing I could think of telling you is that the bassist Lou Barlow has his own bad called Sebadoh, here's one of my favorites from them;

If you're interested in them I'd get the album Bakesale.
