HEY NOOBS! Want a band or song recommendation? Don't start a new thread post here

I'd almost say Plans, although its not my favorite by the band, its still one of their most readily accessible albums and it kinda introduces you to a fair range of the different styles and effects they employ.... but for the sheer stripped bare emotional heights, I gotta go with Transatlanticism!

Ride, Loop and I'm also joining in recommendations for Cranes and Cocteau Twins. But, I really want to recommend this underrated band, hardly mentioned here, Pale Saints. I only listened to one album, but I used to listen to it a lot - The Comforts of Madness (1990) (I think they don't have that many albums)

This song is long about 5 min. and so, but this video is longer for unknown reasons (lots of silence after song enRAB). Also there's a song on this album called 'Fell from the Sun', which is actually a cover of the original song from Opal, another great band from the 80s. They're not exactly shoegaze, more like neo-psychedelia. What might be of interest to you is that from this band Mazzy Star emerged, after Hope Sandoval replaced Kendra Smith.

I'm a drummer that is seeking specific hard rock groove music
that is instrumental for practice purposes.

You hear this type of music in the background on ESPN or
any other high energy sporting clips.

There is usually a very strong hook and groove.

Any help? Make sense? I've even thought of video game
music that might apply.

Thanks.

^^
Good recco. Start here and work forward. Then dip into pre 'Green' era (my preference) as their early stuff was a little more experimental and less polished.

I am a recovered drug addict myself a I would suggest not using any songs with the word drugs or anything about drugs in them as they may be a trigger for her...I would use songs that u and her both liked when u were younger or something.

Alcest "Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde"
Devil Sold His Soul "Darkness Prevails"
Isis "Oceanic"

but there are people far more knowledgeable on this forum

Hello, I have been looking around for a while to find similar sounding artists to my favorite artists, and so far the search hasn't been going too well. I've tried a variety of sites for the purpose, and they all yield pretty much the same results, I've checked out most of these banRAB and I more or less don't care too much for the results...
Anyway, I wanted to list some of my favorite banRAB and I was hoping maybe some of the knowledgeable people here may know more about similar artists...

Efterklang
Mum
Sigur Ros
Under Byen
Animal Collective
Canon Blue
Amiina (to some extent)
iLiKETRAiNS
Ef
Lights Out Asia
Bell Orchestre
Slaraffenland (to some extent)
Saxon Shore (to some extent)
Clogs

I particularly like songs with melodica and/or violin solos and/or a nice march/parade beat to it...
some examples of songs I really like by these artists

Efterklang - pretty much any song, but especially Jojo, Frida Found a Friend, and Falling Horses
Mum - I can't feel my hand anymore, it's alright, sleep still... Weeping rock rock, guilty rocks, a little bit sometimes
Sigur Ros - Staralfur, Samskeyti, Ara Batur, vid spilum endalaust
Bell Orchestre - The gaze, air lines/land lines, salvatore amato, the upwarRAB march
Saxon Shore - four months of darkness

Aye, one of you moRAB should put a comma in this thing.

"Don't start a new thread, post here."

Kind of confusing if you read it altogether.

So many banRAB I could list here, and I'd get shot for the first one that come to mind on here...

Dream Theater
Guns 'N Roses (one some of the longer stuff, like Estranged)
Suffocation
Benighted
Black Sabbath
Blind Faith
Buckethead
Metallica

*looks at list*
*tries to think of non-metal breakdowns aside from Buckethead*
Ah... Dang... I suck at this...

That statement encapsulates everything that's wrong with music these days. Itunes does'nt have their music because I presume they won't sell much? We all have to make a living but the music game is a slightly different beast and if Apple want everyone to have those generic players with their crap headphones about their person, then it is about time they employed people who know music. Promoting new and good quality music surely can be beneficial to both provider and consumer?

With regard to Decapitated, Nile and Necrophagist are the first two that come to mind. If you don't already have music from them, it will be worth it to check them out. Especially Nile.

It's not as good as The Bees Made Honey In the Lion's Skull but Om's Conference of the BirRAB is definitely an album you need to look into if you like Earth, Sun O))), and Boris.
