He's too old now but he would have made a great James Bond

Sam Neil failed a screen test for Bond. His test can be seen on a Bond documentary. I can't remember the name of the documentary but it's available on DVD. As can Pierce Brosnan's failed screen test, though he would have everyone believe a different story regarding what happened in the mid-80s, as would the Bond machine until they fell out with him and reverted to the real story.

He was after the role too.

As was Ranulph Fiennes (not a typo or misname :D ).

Timothy Dalton was considered for the role back then but he felt that at 24, he was far too young ............... which he was but the producers had wanted him since seeing him in 'The Lion in Winter'.

Patrick Mower tested four times I believe (1969, 71, 73, 81).

Oliver Tobias also tested in 1981.

Lewis Collins was considered in 1981 and 1987, but allegedly he and Broccoli didnt get on.

Stanley Baker turned the role down in 1961-62.
